Many people dream of owning their own home, it is after all, the great Australian dream. Everyone gets tired of paying the rent, and the "Dead Money" syndrome haunts you on a weekly basis. Paying off the landlord's mortgage looses it appeal very early.

Unfortunately for many people their first home remains nothing more than a dream. Some, can genuinely not afford the extra expense of paying off a mortgage of their own.

The vast majority of renters, capable of making the move from tenant to first home owner, either don't believe that they can afford a home of their own, so they don't even try. Or get so caught up in the day to day hustle and bustle, they never seem to be able to find the time to make a start on buying their own home.

For all of these people I feel very, very sorry.

Fortunately though, you are not one of these people. You having gone to the effort and trouble to find your way here. You are already demonstrating that you have the right stuff to own your own home and I applaud you for it.

Moving from the rent rat race to first home ownership will be one of the wisest moves you will ever make.

Not only is property a great long term investment, all that money you used to waste on making your landlord rich will now be converted into investment dollars, your property investment dollars, that on average in Australia has doubled in value every seven and a quarter years for well over 60 years.
